Snippings from the shady bed

The bed running down the left hand side of the garden is quite shady so certain plants love it there: foxgloves, hostas, ferns... and an angelica which reached tree-like proportions last year.

I've planted lily-of-the-valley which is looking promising. And a hellebore which two years ago was small and straggly has since established itself and is spreading out nicely. The flowers are finishing now and have faded from a dusty purply-pink to a sort of eau-de-nil colour.

I've left most of them to seed themselves but snipped a few to bring indoors (to join in with Lou's Nature in the Home series).

And a primrose I planted last year has suddenly gone a bit mad too so I pinched a few of those to add to the jam jar.

Simple but sweet, don't you think?

    1. Thank you - I don't usually pick flowers from the garden for some reason, but will in future!

    1. Thanks! And it's actually a tea tray I spotted in TK Maxx. We usually eat at the table but it was so nice I had to succumb... so much for not buying new things!

    1. Me too... I'd really like some of those super-dark purple ones next. Maybe a trip to the garden centre's a good idea. It's my birthday soon. Hmmm...

  6. So beautiful! For some bizarre reason my hellebore hasn't flowered this year but yours looks just lovely, I have severe hellebore envy :)

    1. I think it might be the freckled effect - or the colours maybe?

    1. I'm a fan of them too. I'm drawn to plants in the lime green/deep purply shades... I'd love to decorate a room in similar colours.

  10. Thank you - sadly the little snippings are flagging a bit now. Time to find a replacement!
