December

It's here! And we have an advent calendar (of sorts). I rubbed off the to-do lists from the kitchen blackboard (see my previous post re. Doing Too Much) and replaced it with something far less intimidating and far more exciting.

I'd been on the lookout for an advent calendar for Joe but I'm not a fan of chocolate ones or Disney characters  - more importantly, nor is he - yet, so instead got the blunt little bits of chalk out and drew one. We can cross each day off together.

He seems OK with it.

On Friday night we dressed the shop windows. The wedding dress had been arranged for a while and so had the colour theme (black and white). It looks good. Another window the same size which we didn't photograph's looking lovely too.

So after around four hours of wrestling with mannequins, scouring the stock for pretty stuff to display, dusting and styling I came home and drank a celebratory (large) glass of mulled wine. I slept very well.

Today we had a family meet-up at the farmer's market then went for a walk. I also picked up a snuggly throw with Christmas reading and TV viewing in mind. Oh, and lots of twigs and branches for decorating the house. Jay's up in the loft as I type, hunting down the decorations.

So I have been busy but no stress. Just lovely seasonal activities.

Happy December!

  1. I really like the simplicity of this calendar, not a month of goodies, just a lovely way to countdown the days till Christmas.

    1. Thanks - I'm sure we'll have the goodies in years to come but in the meantime I'm enjoying the fact that my little one's oblivious to the whole thing ;)

  4. Just popped over from Little Green Shed's advent calendar link up. Your advent calendar is the nicest I've seen. After painting 25 loo rolls red, I think your advent calendar was the way to go...

  5. Oh, I'll have to come and see! Thank you for your comment. The calendar's useful in that I always know what the date is! If I'm honest my little one is pretty indifferent to it. Maybe next year...
