2013

Happy New Year!

I've never been that much of a fan really - what with the dark nights, grey days, sluggishness (from the festive overindulgence), lack of funds (for the same reason) and the general feeling of anticlimax.

Having said that, it's a good time to make plans and get organised. I'm a bit of a decluttering freak anyway. So a chunk of today was spent filing paperwork, dusting, doing the laundry... although the Christmas tree and decorations are staying for a day or two longer.

Joe got quite a few things from friends and family so we tidied his future room and put the toys, books and stuff away. He won't be moving in there for a couple of months yet but I've got lots if ideas. It was redecorated last year (pale grey walls, white woodwork, mid-brown laminate floor) so now we just get to do the fun stuff.

I like the idea of a woodland/nature theme rather than cartoon characters or cars or diggers. And it would be good to upcycle some old furniture.

Unfortunately we don't have the ceiling space for something like this - yet. Here's hoping the buyer for our house is out there and planning a January viewing!

We're off to Liverpool tomorrow to buy him something - see above - we've wanted for his room for a while (and some of his Christmas money has made it possible for us to buy). The remainder of the money will go into a savings account in his name. How sensible of us :)
